The season for Bluegill and Crappie fishing on Rice Lake beginning this year is open year round with the change in the fishing regulations that took place as of January 1st 2010 for Zone 17 in which Rice Lake is apart of . Ice Fishing is now allowed on Rice Lake and many took advantage this year.After a very long and snowy winter (if you don’t take advantage of Ice Fishing) the best part of living on Rice Lake is about to begin, fishing season.
So now once the ice is out, get out there and have yourself some fun. Make sure that you dress warmly and always wear your lifejacket on Rice Lake especially in early spring the water is going to be cold.
In the spring look for areas where the water warms up the quickest or near fresh water sources such as river or creek mouths.
As Rice Lake has a great population of many types of pan fish, catching your fill of fish is almost a sure thing. These pan fish can be found throughout the lake and can be easily caught from shore.
Bring along your kids and get them involved, all you need for bait is a worm and a hook for beginners. I’m sure the fish will give them some excitement and give you some fun family memories.

Beginning this year there are limits to the number of Bluegill, Crappie or Perch on Rice Lake which can be kept.
